LIVE MUSIC - Homegrown honky-tonk country swing band, Dusty Chaps, are back for a 50th anniversary show like none other on the Hotel Congress Plaza! The Dusty Chaps, the greatest band to have ever come out of Tucson, will celebrate their 50th anniversary at the Hotel Congress Plaza Stage, with a two-hour concert on Saturday, October 5th. The Dusty Chaps were formed in 1969 by Peter Gierlach (Petey Mesquitey), George Hawke, Woody Janda, and Bill Lackey. They recorded numerous singles and albums for Capitol Records and performed throughout the country. George Hawke’s songs have been recorded by hundreds of other artists. Even today, the Dusty Chaps attract thousands of fans at their rare concerts so get your tickets early. The mayor of Tucson, Jonathan Rothschild, is proclaiming October 5th as Dusty Chaps day and awarding the band with a key to the city…which he will regret.
